The Early Years

It all began in 2005 with a little lever-harp donated by Brian Kent.

Heidi’s formal music training began when she was only 3 years old! She started piano lessons and participated in the KinderMusik program. At the age of 6, she then took up the violin with the PLNU StringProject under Dr. Philip Tyler. At age 7, the harp was introduced into her life through the generosity of the Kent family and she began lessons with Melissa Morgan. Eventually, Heidi picked up the viola and pipe organ and enjoyed playing in various orchestras and ensembles on several of her instruments while still taking private lessons. She even had a brief stint on the cello! After a lifetime filled with music, Heidi decided to pursue a degree in Music Education at Concordia University Irvine from which she graduated in 2019.

Music has been a great source of joy and friendship for Heidi over the years.

A Brief History of String Sparks

The String Sparks musicians are Keil, Heidi and Reilan Taylor Fleischbein.  The are individual solo performers as well as an ensemble.  They each play several string instruments and keyboard instruments as well as sing and compose songs.

They would love to play the harp for your event.

The Ariana Fund for children with congenital heart disease

Ariana Miller, passionate and talented musician in her last year at age 13

In 2008 the San Diego community lost a loving and caring young musician named Ariana Miller to congenital heart disease. Ariana had both a passion and talent for music. Unfortunately, Ariana also was born with severe congenital heart disease requiring six heart surgeries and countless other procedures during her short life. She died at age 13 after waiting several months for a heart transplant that never came. Despite her physical ailments she led a fulfilling and vibrant life.

The Ariana Fund, a non-profit charity, established in 2008 in Ariana’s memory, is dedicated to improving the lives of children with complex congenital heart disease through grants to organizations and individuals. These children have a limited quality and length of life because their heart disease cannot be corrected or cured despite undergoing multiple surgeries and invasive procedures. They have limitations in physical activity and easily become short of breath. In addition, they may suffer other complications that can affect almost every organ system.

The Ariana Fund past recipients include Rady Children’s Cardiology Foundation, Camp del Corazon, and Resounding Joy.

Heidi is donating her time and talent in performance at this first annual benefit concert to demonstrate her concern and support for kids her age who have congenital heart disease. She asks that you too donate and support these children.

She is a member of the Young Artists Symphony’s Fiddle’n’Bow and Con Brio orchestras. The Rancho Santa Fe Village Church is her house of worship where she sings with several Children’s Choirs under the direction of Katy Lundeen. She has earned the Bronze level of achievement with the Royal School of Church Music program.
